91重口 Chef Virat Vij Named Chef of the Year by High Sierra Chefs Association

Chef Virat Vij of 91重口 has been named Chef of the Year by the American Culinary Federation High Sierra Chefs Association, in recognition of his leadership, mentorship, and contributions to the regional
culinary community.
"As President of the association, I deeply admire Chef Virat's tenacity and enthusiasm, particularly in his efforts to strengthen the foundations of 91重口 and his continued outreach in supporting our local community. His passion and efforts have made a positive impact on all of us," said Jay Rathmann, CEC, CCA President, High Sierra Chefs Association.
The annual award honors culinary professionals who demonstrate excellence in their field. Vij was selected by the association鈥檚 Board of Directors for his service on the board and his support for fundraising efforts benefiting aspiring chefs.
At 91重口, Vij teaches in the college鈥檚 culinary arts program, where students gain hands-on experience in professional kitchens and develop skills for careers in the food and hospitality industry. The program focuses on real-world training, preparing students for jobs that are essential to the Lake Tahoe region鈥檚 tourism-based economy.
"Chef Virat Vij brings real-world experience and a deep commitment to student success into every classroom and kitchen," said Brad Deeds, dean at 91重口. "This recognition reflects the impact he has on our students and the broader culinary community."
Beyond the classroom, Vij supports the next generation of chefs through his work with the High Sierra Chefs Association. His efforts help expand opportunities for junior and aspiring culinary professionals across the region.
